 Making a Dream Come True...

What is the Dream...?

This invention has created for me a desire to obtain my dream closet. While applying the invention to my own life, I feel that this self-washing and self-selecting closet will greatly benefit my life.

Recap!

My invention is a closet in which can self-wash and self-dry. It can also, with the help of a touch-screen remote, organzie clothes into various sections. For Example...(jeans, skirts, ascessories, shoes, dress shirts, dirty clothes, etc.). After separating one's clothing, the owner is able to review and create outfits to put together on an avatar version of themselves. Once the outfit is selected, with the touch of a button, it will appear before the owner's face. It is quite the invetion.

Learning Experience...

While going on the journey of explaining my invention through a series of topics that I have learned throught the semester thus far, I believe I have gained a greater respect for my invention. It is easy to simply think of something that you think is "cool," but actually looking at its composition and what goes into it is a different story. Although, my idea--now-- seems more difficult to create, I have gained a greater sense of technological concepts.

Blogging Experience...

I am pleased with the blogging experience I have gained with this project. My experience can be carried over into other activities I become involved in. In reviewing other blogs by bloggers such as: Abdullah Alrebdi, Candice Frank, and John Applebee, I have gained insightful knowledge for future blogs that I may create.

OVERALL...Wonderful Experience.

Week 7...Data Management!

Storing Data

Safe and Sound

The data involved in making the closet working successfully is quite vast. Schedules, passwords, codes, files, etc. are each involved with the touch-screen remote. In order to keep this data safe from intruders or from malfunctioning, it will come equipped with a DBMS backup and recovery. The DBMS will be continuous so thay whenever a change is made to the data it will backup and recover any and all data automatically.

What Type of Database will Store the Data

The database involved with this invention will be a relational database. This type of database provides data in the form of tables, columns, and rows. I feel that this would suit the data involved with the self-washing closet the best, because the invention involves a lot of  different catagories and schedules. With such a complex idea, there is a lot oif information that goes into it and needs to be stored. This type of database will provide the best support for the invention. 

Who is in Control?

When dealing with a database that involves a lot of information, it is important to have a person working behind the scenes to make sure nothing goes wrong. A databass administrator will be needed in this case. By having a DBA, one can be promised good quality in their product. A DBA, in this case, is a backup to a backup. If something were to go wrong with continuous data security, the DBA would be there to save the day.

Week 6...How Does it Operate?

What Are We Working With 

Windows 7...

The touch-screen remote contronl uses the most recent version of Windows, Windows 7. This was updated in 2009 to work better for touch-screen devices, which will prove to be efficient with the closet's touch-screen remote control. The remote will be using the professional version of Windows 7, which offers the best qualities out of them all of the versions, so that it supports all the features that are involved with the closet and remote. Some features include: Windows Aero (which can quickly search for files), this is best when deciding which outfit to wear, or trying to change an Excel sheet of the washing/drying cycle.  

What Else?...

The touch-screen remote will require that the owner create an Administer account. The account will have a username, password, and picture that the owner can identify with in order to log in. The owner will be able to create more than one account. These accounts are created for the purpose of security and privacy from others.



Protection...

The touch-screen remote control comes installed with Norton AntiVirus software. This software is installed to prevent the remote from being attacked from viruses. The remote is able to connect to the internet, and this software ensures navigation to safe sites and prevents pop-ups.
